Ouzo
Ouzo (Greek: Oύζο) is a traditional Greek anise spirit. It is produced mainly through the distillation of wine, placed in copper cauldrons and flavored with herbs and fruits, with the predominant anise giving it its characteristic taste. It belongs to the category of distilled unsweetened alcoholic beverages.
It is consumed chilled or at room temperature and cold water (with ice if desired) separately. Only in Bulgaria it is also served "in crystals".
It is traditionally accepted as an aperitif to seafood (fish, squid, etc.). It can be drunk neat or mixed with water.
